Page 44 Studios

Starting a new business is an adventure, and sometimes, even the name has an interesting beginning. As the founder of Prototype 44, an online kids' clothing store, I wanted to share the tale behind its name.

In the beginning, I had envisioned my venture as "Page 44 Studios," drawing inspiration from Turn 10 Studio, the video game maker behind the Forza racing game series from Microsoft, and the race car number 44 of my favorite Formula One driver, Lewis Hamilton. The name stemmed from my passion for cars and the desire to create stylish car-themed T-shirts that would capture the imaginations of both kids and adults alike. The word "Page" is also appropriate as my first attempt at a shirt was going to be printed with graphics of cars in the format of a manga, resembling a page in a comic book.

However, during my research phase, I discovered that "Page 44 Studios" was already used by another company, prompting me to reconsider the name. Hence, "Prototype 44" emerged as an alternative. The word "Prototype" embodies the essence of my entrepreneurial journey. I've never attempted to launch my own business before, and there is a lot of trial and error involved.

As the first product continued to take shape, there were challenges in creating car-themed graphics that would satisfy my vision. Instead, I found inspiration from my 4-year-old son's fascination with rockets and spaceships, which sparked the creation of the first collection of shirts. This is also where the logo comes about.

Since then, I've involved my children in every design process, making it a delightful and engaging father/son/daughter project. Their innocent perspectives and honest feedback give me exclusive access to the mind of a child and what excites them.

Now that you know a little bit about me, I invite you to embark on this journey with me. Stay connected by visiting this blog regularly to discover how each product was brought to life. I'll share behind-the-scenes insights, stories of triumphs and challenges, and the creative process that goes into designing these unique shirts.
